Continuing Competence Refresher Courses
There have been several changes to the WAMITAB scheme over the last year or so and some of these will affect you even if you already have your CoTC, or hold “grandfather rights”. The main change to consider now, is that of your Continuing Competence.

If you gained your CoTC (or had grandfather rights) prior to 22/12/2008, then you now have until 29/02/2012 to take and pass a CIWM/WAMITAB Continuing Competence test at a Test Centre.

Anyone who completed after 22/12/2008 now has until 28/02/2014.

After this initial period, the process will return to a fixed 2-year cycle and you will need to complete the test at any time within this rolling 2 year period.

Driver CPC
The requirement for Driver CPC has been introduced across the EU to maintain standards of driving and ultimately improve road safety.

It affects all drivers of lorries over 3.5 tonnes and minibuses with 9 or more seats. Lorry drivers who obtained their licence prior to 10 Sept 2009 will have until 9 Sept 2014 to complete the training.

The requirement is for drivers to complete 35 hours of training within this period and then on a rolling period of 5 years. This equates to 7 hours a year, although it could equally be completed in a combination of 7 hour blocks (e.g. 35 hours in one year etc).

Courses must be delivered through approved test centres, with content varying, to include H&S and other driving skills. No tests are required.
